About US

Welcome to Out There Vans, owned and operated by Zach Nichols and Hannah Condon in Grand Junction, CO.

We are a young couple who share a passion for outdoor adventures, hard work, and simple living. When we are not busy designing and building vans, we enjoy hiking in the Colorado National Monument, skiing on the Grand Mesa, and hitting the road in our van for desert excursions.

We completed our first van build over the course of three weeks in April 2019. At the time, we were both working full time jobs and pushed ourselves to work late nights, early mornings, and weekends to complete our van in time for prime desert season. We enjoyed working together so much that we decided to build another van to sell. By the end of 2019 we had completed a handful of custom vans, and in January 2020 we established Out There Vans, LLC. Now, we are thrilled to both be devoted to our business full time.

Zach is well acquainted with tiny living. He lived out of his backpack while through-hiking the Colorado Trail and John Muir trail. He then went on to travel the United States in his Chevy Equinox before graduating to a van, which he lived in for a summer while working in Aspen. Zach studied digital marketing at the University of Northern Iowa. Before establishing Out There Vans, he worked in the outdoor industry as a zipline guide at CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains and snowmobile guide at T-Lazy-7 Ranch. He grew up helping his dad remodel their 100 year-old Iowa home; little did he know those skills would come in handy building custom vans.

Hannah is a lifelong Colorado resident whose passion for the outdoors began at an early age hiking with her parents in the Roaring Fork Valley. She developed a special fondness for the desert when her Dad began taking her on spring break camping trips in first grade, an annual tradition which they continue to this day. Her favorite places to visit include Grand Staircase-Escalante, Zion, Capitol Reef, and Canyonlands. Hannah studied visual art at Grinnell College, where she managed the wood shop and welding studio. Before becoming a van builder, she worked in communications at the Art Base community art center and coordinated art programming at the Basalt Regional Library. She loves applying her background in art to create beautiful van interiors.
